1. Book Club [Blu-Ray] (2018)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Some films treat topics related to aging and sexuality well, but Book Club doesn’t become one of those films. Instead, it offers a superficial, caricature-packed piece of idiotic fluff that totally wastes the ample talent it boasts. Starring Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda. Paramount, $24.99, 8/28/2018.

2. The Women (2008)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The 1939 version of The Women maintains a following as a minor classic. 69 years from now, I doubt that anyone will remember – or want to remember – the dire 2008 remake. Silly, fluffy and pointless, the movie simply churns out “you go, girl!” nonsense without anything to make it more substantial or compelling ... Stay far away from this tripe. Starring

3. View From The Top (2003)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The subject of flight attendants seems ripe for the comedic picking, but View From the Top fails to examine the topic in any sort of humorous or stimulating way. It alternates between broad farce and sentimental romance and succeeds at neither genre. Starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Mike Myers. Miramax, $29.99, 9/9/2003.

4. Sweet Home Alabama (2002)
Reviewed by David Williams: ...another in a long line of cookie-cutter romantic comedies/modern-day fairy tales that Hollywood turns out in droves each and every year.

5. Miss Congeniality: Deluxe Edition Giftset (2000)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Should fans pursue this Deluxe Edition of Miss Congeniality? If they don’t already own the prior DVD, then maybe. The DE offers everything in the prior package along with a few new disc-based extras and a CD soundtrack, but it sells for a high list price of almost $40. That might be worth it if you want the CD, but otherwise it’s too steep, especially si

6. Gandhi (1982)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As a movie, Gandhi falls well short of its goals. It glorifies the life of a great man to an unrealistic degree, and it comes across as a dull, stodgy hagiography. Starring Ben Kingsley, Candice Bergen. Sony, $24.95, 8/28/2001.

9. Gandhi: 25th Anniversary Collector's Edition (1982)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While I don’t care for Gandhi as a film, this 25th Anniversary DVD treats it well. It’s definitely the release to own, and that goes for folks who already have the old disc from 2001. Since this one improves in terms of picture and supplements, it becomes a worthwhile upgrade. Starring Ben Kingsley, Candice Bergen. Sony, $24.96, 2/20/2007.

10. Home Again [Blu-Ray] (2017)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Nancy Meyers made her career with trite romantic comedies about privileged people, and her daughter Hallie decided to emulate her mom. Home Again presents a bland, cliché experience with nothing to charm or entertain. Starring Reese Witherspoon, Michael Sheen. Universal, $34.98, 12/12/2017.
