11. Kill Bill: Volume One (2003)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I don’t know if Kill Bill Volume 1 lives up to six years of expectations, but it provides a satisfying stew nonetheless. The movie mixes many different formats but holds them together surprisingly well to create a distinctive action flick. Starring Uma Thurman, Lucy Liu. Miramax, $29.99, 4/13/2004.

13. The Grapes Of Wrath: Fox Studio Classics (1940)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: A fine retelling of a great book, The Grapes of Wrath holds up well after more than 60 years. The movie occasionally suffers from a few minor issues, but it connects with its source material to provide a low-key and powerful take on the Depression. Starring Henry Fonda, Jane Darwell. Fox, $14.98, 4/6/2004.

15. The Howling: Special Edition (1981)
Reviewed by David Williams: The Howling hasn’t aged real well and for a film that barely lasts 90-minutes, I found myself checking the clock often. The film lives on in remembrance much better than it does in subsequent viewings and I can only recommend a blind purchase of MGM’s well done DVD to hardcore fans only. Starring Dee Wallace, Robert Picardo. MGM, $19.98, 8/26/2003.

16. The Shootist [Blu-Ray] (1976)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The trailer for The Shootist bills it as 'perhaps the greatest Western of them all'. While it doesn’t live up to that status, it nonetheless gives us something well above average, buoyed by a surprisingly strong lead turn from John Wayne. Starring John Wayne, Lauren Bacall. Arrow, $39.95, 3/12/2024.

17. Stagecoach: Special Edition (1939)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I definitely recommend Stagecoach, and this special edition is the one to get if you don’t have the earlier release. For fans who already own that version, though, you only need to “double-dip” if you’re interested in the supplements. They’re good and worth your time, but you won’t find any improvements in picture or audio here. Starring John Wayne, Clai

18. Stagecoach: Criterion Collection [Blu-Ray] (1939)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: For fans who want the best-looking version of Stagecoach, this Blu-ray is the way to go, though they shouldn’t expect miracles, as the transfer continued to show many defects. Nonetheless, it was the most appealing presentation I’ve seen, and it could be very solid at times. This becomes the strongest release of Stagecoach on the market, though serious f

19. Max Keeble's Big Move (2001)
