31. Con Air (1997)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As a movie, Con Air provided a moderate amount of fun thrills, but I thought it seemed less vivid and involving than most Jerry Bruckheimer productions. It felt more like a “cookie-cutter” release than others. Starring Nicolas Cage, John Cusack. Touchstone, $14.99, 3/24/1998.

32. Lee Daniels' The Butler [Blu-Ray] (2013)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Well-intended but erratic, Lee Daniels’ The Butler turns into an awkward history lesson. At its core, it boasts a potentially fascinating tale, but it veers too much from reality and ends up as little more than a “greatest hits” reel of political events from the 1950s to 1970s. The Blu-ray offers solid picture and audio along with a handful of decent bon

33. Must Love Dogs (2005)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While I admit I didn’t have terribly high expectations for Must Love Dogs, I didn’t anticipate anything quite this atrocious. Charmless, witless and unbearably formulaic, this one feels like a computer created it out of every chick flick cliché. Starring Diane Lane, John Cusack. Warner, $28.98, 12/20/2005.

34. Raising Helen (2004)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: A predictable take on an overdone subject, you won’t find anything fresh or new in Raising Helen. A good cast makes the ordinary material more palatable, but not by much, as it remains without great charm. Starring Kate Hudson, John Corbett. Buena Vista, $29.99, 10/12/2004.

35. Toy Story 2 [4K UHD] (1999)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: A rare sequel that probably improves on its predecessor, Toy Story 2 is a winner in every way. The movie offers great humor, a fun tale, and real emotion to make it a lively and engaging piece. Starring Tom Hanks, Tim Allen. Disney, $39.99, 6/4/2019.

36. The Thin Red Line: Criterion Collection [Blu-Ray] (1998)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While I won’t call The Thin Red Line a bad film, it’s definitely not one that appealed to me. I’ve now seen it three times, and though I appreciated it more with repetition - once freed from the expectations I had prior to my initial viewing - I still found little in it to sustain my attention or involve me. I thought it was lovely but ultimately empty.

38. Con Air: Unrated Extended Edition (1997)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: This disc’s “Unrated Extended Version” adds a bunch of small character moments to the theatrical cut. These flesh out some of the secondary roles but don’t bring a lot to the table, so fans shouldn’t double-dip just to get the new shots. However, they will likely want to replace their old discs to get the upgraded anamorphic transfer. Without question, f

39. V For Vendetta [Blu-Ray] (2006)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Ambitious and unusual, I admire V For Vendetta more for what it attempts than what it does. It shoots for the moon but succeeds too sporadically to become a consistently successful effort. Starring Natalie Portman, Hugo Weaving. Warner, $14.97, 5/20/2008.

40. Toy Story 3 [Blu-Ray] (2010)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Does Toy Story 3 equal the delights found in its two predecessors? Pretty much – I still prefer the first two flicks, but I think TS3 offers a terrific experience that doesn’t disappoint. The Blu-ray comes with excellent picture, very good audio, and a strong selection of supplements. This terrific package definitely earns my recommendation. Starring Tom
