31. The Untouchables: Special Collector's Edition (1987)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The Untouchables makes for a solid DVD. The movie itself doesn’t always fire on all cylinders, but it provides a generally exciting and well-executed affair ... For those who don’t own the prior DVD, I definitely recommend this version of The Untouchables. It’s an effective flick and a good DVD. However, those who do already have the prior release will p

32. The Guardian (2006)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Despite its predictable nature and a “been there, done that” feel to the story, The Guardian manages to entertain – for a while. Unfortunately, the movie takes some serious wrong turns and runs way too long. These factors make it badly flawed in the end. Starring Kevin Costner, Ashton Kutcher. Buena Vista, $29.99, 1/23/2007.

33. JFK: 2003 Special Edition (1991)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: For those who already own a prior JFK DVD, the question of “upgrade” comes into play. If you only have the old “flipper”, I’d definitely recommend this 2003 set; it improves upon the original disc in every way. However, if you possess the 2001 special edition release, I’d stick with it. That one and the 2003 version are almost identical. This package add

34. JFK: Ultimate Collector's Edition (1991)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: (A) double – or triple, or quadruple – dip (is) difficult to recommend. Objectively, the UCE provides the best release of JFK simply because it has all the supplements from the prior versions along with some new materials. However, its semi-high price makes it a tough sell. If you really, really dig JFK, I’d say go for it, but I think the 2003 SE remains

35. Swing Vote [Blu-Ray] (2008)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: After all these decades, filmmakers still try to out-Capra Capra, and Swing Vote falls into that category. Like most of the other imitators, Vote fails in its attempt to follow in Capra’s footsteps – and it can’t even muster a coherent story or logical tale. Starring Kevin Costner, Kelsey Grammer. Buena Vista, $19.99, 1/13/2009.

38. Bull Durham [Blu-Ray] (1988)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I’ve always really liked Bull Durham as a film, as it uses baseball as a believable backdrop for romantic comedy. Truly, this is the rare film of that genre that will appeal to male and female audiences. Starring Kevin Costner, Susan Sarandon. MGM, $19.95, 5/7/2013.

40. Waterworld [Blu-Ray] (1995)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Does Waterworld deserve its status as an infamous flop? No, but it also shouldn’t be viewed as an unjustly maligned classic, as it offers a mix of thrills and idiocy. Starring Kevin Costner, Jeanne Tripplehorn. Universal, $19.98, 10/20/2009.
