- 31. The Beguiled [Blu-Ray] (2017)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Slow to the point of stasis, The Beguiled doesn’t offer an especially involving narrative. The actors manage to flesh out their roles in a satisfying manner but the movie’s sluggish development makes it a tough ride. Starring Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman. Universal, $34.98, 10/10/2017.

- 32. Hidden Figures [Blu-Ray] (2016)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Does it count as ironic that a movie about challenging the status quo provides a wholly conventional, predictable affair? While I like the story and message of Hidden Figures, the movie lacks much creative zest, as it conveys its narrative in the most traditional manner possible. Starring Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer. Fox, $39.99, 4/11/2017.

- 33. Spider-Man 2.1: Extended Cut (2004)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As an alternate version for fans Spider-Man 2.1 offers a fun take on things. The changes don’t significantly harm the tale, as it still works very well in this format. However, I think the shorter theatrical cut offers the superior edition. It presents a tighter, smoother flick and remains the best way to experience the story. Starring Tobey Maguire, Kir

- 34. Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind (2004)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: A pleasant surprise, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind looks trite at the start but it soon blossoms into something creative and involving. The movie doesn’t take too many predictable paths as it follows an unusual path to communicate the complications of relationships. Starring Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet. Universal, $29.98, 9/28/2004.

- 35. Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind: Collector's Edition (2004)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I recommended the first release of Mind and endorse this one as well - if you don’t already have the prior edition. It presents everything from the initial set plus some substantial new components. However, if you already own the original set, I find it hard to push you to double-dip. It includes a few nice elements but not enough to merit a repurchase.

- 38. Spider-Man [Blu-Ray] (2002)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Happily, Spider-Man itself doesn’t disappoint. The movie offers a lively and exciting piece that possesses greater depth and emotion than one might usually expect from this sort of film. It doesn’t seem perfect, but it works tremendously well as a whole and it captures the parts of the comic books that make them so memorable. The Blu-ray provides strong

- 39. Spider-Man [Blu-Ray 4K] (2002)
-
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: After more than a decade, Spider-Man remains one of my favorite superhero movies; indeed, it might only be second to The Dark Knight on my personal list. While I can’t call it flawless, it’s light, fun and a good representation of the comics. The Blu-ray brings us strong picture and audio but lacks supplements. It’s too bad the 4K Blu-ray comes with no b
