191. The Diary Of Anne Frank: 50th Anniversary Edition (1959)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: (T)his “50th Anniversary Edition” DVD comes as a letdown as well. It provides picture and sound that are on a par with what we found on the prior disc, but it omits most of that set’s supplements. While this release’s exclusives are interesting, they don’t substitute for the elements found on the original disc. Completists will want to own both, but if y

193. The Diary Of Anne Frank: Studio Classics (1959)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: An inconsistent film, parts of it come across as well as one could hope, but partially due to erratic pacing and an inappropriately cast lead actress, other elements undercut the experience. There’s enough good stuff here to merit a look, but I must admit I find the flick to be something of a disappointment. Starring Millie Perlins, Shelley Winters. Fox,

194. The Diary Of Anne Frank [Blu-Ray] (1959)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The Diary of Anne Frank takes on an important subject but only provides an occasionally effective examination. While the movie clearly has some terrific moments, it also falls flat at times and seems too erratic to be a thorough winner. Starring Millie Perkins, Shelley Winters. Fox, $34.99, 6/16/2009.

195. War For The Planet Of The Apes [Blu-Ray] (2017)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As the third film in the series, War for the Planet of the Apes could’ve spun its wheels, but instead, it delivers a vivid tale of its own. The movie offers an unusual character orientation that allows it to create a vivid, involving narrative. Starring Woody Harrelson, Andy Serkis. Fox, $34.99, 10/24/2017.

196. The Adventures of Robin Hood: Special Edition (1938)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: 65 years down the road, The Adventures of Robin Hood remains a fine film. Not only do we see its influence on later flicks, but also it still seems exciting and entertaining. The DVD presents very good picture and sound along with an excellent set of supplements. An enjoyable and likable action picture, I definitely recommend Adventures. Starring Errol F

197. Rebel Without A Cause: Special Edition (1955)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Although it probably should seem pathetically dated, Rebel Without A Cause generally holds up very well despite its age The movie provides a solid look at the era’s youth culture and the problems faced by teens. Largely due to some excellent performances, the movie remains moving and convincing many decades later. The DVD offers above-average picture and

198. Watchmen: Director's Cut (2009)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Ambitious and epic, Watchmen doesn’t always fire on all cylinders. However, it more completely captures the spirit and scope of the source comic than one could realistically expect, and it turns into an engaging movie. The DVD provides terrific audio, but picture quality is mediocre at best, and the package comes with average supplements. I think the fli

200. El Cid: Limited Collector's Edition (1961)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: El Cid aspires to the greatness of flicks such as Ben-Hur or Lawrence of Arabia. It doesn’t reach those heights, but at least it proves more effective than flawed offerings such as The Greatest Story Ever Told. Competent and professional, the film holds out attention but rarely excels ... I think this is a very nice release for a moderately involving mov
