Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Overall, From Here to Eternity offered an interesting and surprisingly gritty experience. The movie showed its age at times, but it still appeared to work quite well. The Blu-ray provides excellent picture quality along with generally positive audio and bonus materials. The Blu-ray brings us a fine representation of a classic film. Starring Burt Lancaste

4. From Here to Eternity: Columbia Best Pictures Collection (1953)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: (F)rom Here to Eternity fans face a potential dilemma. I think they’ll like this new transfer, but they’ll have to decide if they want the other movies as well; obviously no one will spend $135 just for one flick. Don’t expect miracles from the 2008 presentation, but it does offer a definite improvement over the earlier transfer. Starring Burt Lancaster,

5. Brute Force: Criterion Collection (1947)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Taut and punchy, Brute Force provides an involving prison drama. It balances a mix of topics well and gives us an exciting and moving view of various topics, all done without excessive melodrama. Starring Burt Lancaster, Hume Cronyn. Criterion, $39.95, 4/17/2007.

6. Judgment At Nuremberg (1961)

7. Sweet Smell Of Success (Criterion Collection) [Blu-Ray] (1957)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: An acidic portrait of show business and human nature, Sweet Smell of Success didn’t find an audience in 1957, but it stands as a classic now. The movie goes deep into darkness and delivers a crisp, involving drama. The Blu-ray looks splendid via this stellar transfer, and it boasts better than average audio and a fine selection of supplements as well. Yo

9. Field Of Dreams (1989)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While I was prepared to dislike Field of Dreams, I actually found it to be fairly charming and entertaining. Whatever aspects of the film turned me off in the past melted away as I got caught up in its gentle fantasy and emotion ... Though the disc doesn’t give us the film at its best, at least we get a fine flick with a lot of useful supplements. Starri

10. Airport (1970)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While Airport launched the disaster flick boom of the Seventies, it doesn’t stand as one of the genre’s more interesting releases. Indeed, I think it’s probably one of the most boring examples of this kind of movie, as it pours on too much soap opera and too little action or intrigue. Starring Burt Lancaster, Dean Martin. Universal, $19.98, 2/10/2004.
