1. Edge Of Darkness [Blu-Ray] (2010)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: After almost eight years, Mel Gibson returned to the big screen with Edge of Darkness. I’d like to refer to this as a triumphant return, but the slow, dull movie turns into a disappointment. It has some good moments, but these are too infrequent. The Blu-ray offers excellent visuals, good audio and average supplements. Edge presents a decidedly mediocre

2. GoldenEye [Blu-Ray] (1995)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: After a six-year break, 1995’s GoldenEye brought the Bond franchise back to prominence. 24 years later, it remains a fun and inviting adventure. Starring Pierce Brosnan, Sean Bean. MGM, $14.98, 9/15/2015.

3. GoldenEye: Ultimate Edition (1995)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Should folks who already own the prior release pursue this Ultimate Edition? Yes, though don’t expect it to blow away the prior DVD. Actually, it demonstrates a noticeable improvement in terms of picture quality, and it throws in some good new extras as well. It just suffers from a few more flaws than I’d like. Starring Pierce Brosnan, Sean Bean. MGM, $8

4. The Protégé [Blu-ray] (2021)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: If one expects anything novel or creative from The Protégé, one will encounter disappointment. Despite talent behind and in front of the camera, it ends up as generic as its title. Starring Maggie Q, Samuel L. Jackson. Lionsgate, $39.99, 10/19/2021.

6. The Legend Of Zorro: Special Edition (2005)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While The Mask of Zorro came as a pleasant surprise back in 1998, 2005’s The Legend of Zorro provides a convoluted disappointment. The movie lacks zest or spark and never goes anywhere fun. Starring Antonio Banderas, Catherine Zeta-Jones. Columbia TriStar, $28.95, 1/31/2006.

7. The Mask of Zorro [Blu-Ray] (1998)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The Mask of Zorro isn’t a classic film, but I felt it provided a fun and exciting affair. It benefited from good acting and some solid action pieces that helped compensate for a mildly generic quality. The Blu-ray offers very strong picture and sound, and it adds a smattering of decent supplements crowned by an excellent audio commentary. Starring Antoni

8. The Mask of Zorro: Deluxe Edition (1998)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Except for the DTS mix, I see little reason for folks who don’t own any Mask of Zorro DVD to grab the old one. Should fans who already have that set get this new version? No. It adds almost nothing new, so why bother? The 2005 Mask is a good value for new purchasers, though, especially if they plan to see Legend. Starring Antonio Banderas, Anthony Hopkin

10. Green Lantern [Blu-Ray] (2011)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While I’ve certainly seen worse superhero movies than Green Lantern, I’ve definitely seen many superior flicks. This one musters passable entertainment but never manages to become anything especially exciting. The Blu-ray delivers very good picture plus excellent audio and a reasonably interesting set of supplements. The Blu-ray’s a nice release for an o
