1. The Women (2008)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The 1939 version of The Women maintains a following as a minor classic. 69 years from now, I doubt that anyone will remember – or want to remember – the dire 2008 remake. Silly, fluffy and pointless, the movie simply churns out “you go, girl!” nonsense without anything to make it more substantial or compelling ... Stay far away from this tripe. Starring

2. Searching [Blu-Ray] (2018)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: A thriller with unusual stylistic choices, Searching works surprisingly well. While its techniques veer into gimmick category, the filmmakers integrate these choices smoothly and allow the movie to come together in a tight manner. Starring John Cho, Debra Messing. Sony, $34.99, 11/27/2018.

3. Hollywood Ending (2002)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Woody Allen takes gentle aim at himself in Hollywood Ending, and the results seem mildly amusing.

4. Open Season: Special Edition (2006)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Anyone who looks to Open Season for an inspired animated romp will depart disappointed. The movie avoids the bland mediocrity of some flicks but never manages to make its own name for itself. It feels too derivative and doesn’t boast much to allow it to amuse or delight. Starring Martin Lawrence, Ashton Kutcher. Sony, $29.98, 1/30/2007.

5. Freaks And Geeks: The Complete Series (Limited Edition Yearbook) (1999)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While I truly loved the LE, I just can’t recommend it to too many fans because of the price. $50 to $70 for a yearbook and two extra DVDs seems awfully steep. If the money doesn’t matter to you, go for the LE; you’ll be very happy with it. Otherwise, it seems tough to justify the extra expense for this undeniably excellent package. Created by Paul Feig.

6. The Mothman Prophecies: Special Editon (2002)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: This new special edition adds lots of quite interesting supplements.

7. Freaks And Geeks: The Complete Series (1999)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: In the annals of late, great lost TV treasures, Freaks and Geeks might go down as the best. Impeccably acted, tightly written and directed, and terrifically entertaining, the series died before its time. Created by Paul Feig. Shout Factory, $69.98, 4/6/2004.

8. Dirty Dancing (2017)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As an update, the 2017 Dirty Dancing lacks much purpose. While it makes some changes, it seems redundant and free from much charm. Starring Abigail Breslin, Colt Prattes. Lionsgate, $19.98, 6/27/2017.

9. The Mothman Prophecies (2002)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: ...it simply seems bland and lifeless, as the story bumbles along without much point.

10. Dirty Dancing: 30th Annniversary Edition [Blu-Ray] (1987)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I didn’t expect much from a chick flick like Dirty Dancing, but it actually works fairly well. The movie proves to have some intelligence and heart, and while it gets too melodramatic, it still delivers a reasonably solid effort. Starring Jennifer Grey, Patrick Swayze. Lionsgate, $14.98, 2/7/2017.
