11. The Gateway [Blu-ray] (2021)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: With its story of a heroic but flawed social worker, The Gateway comes with some dramatic potential. Unfortunately, the film lacks coherence and fails to find a compelling path through its narrative beats. Starring Shea Whigham, Olivia Munn. Lionsgate, $21.99, 9/7/2021.

12. Recount (2008)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While I wasn’t sure how interesting a film about voting would be, Recount gives us a riveting piece of work. The flick moves at a great pace and turns the source material into fascinating drama ... I can’t call this a stellar DVD, but the movie itself definitely merits your attention. Starring Kevin Spacey, Bob Balaban. HBO Home Video, $19.97, 8/19/2008.

13. Monster [Blu-Ray] (2003)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: A film that will likely remain best known for Charlize Theron’s Oscar triumph, Monster works well as a whole. It sputters at times and becomes a little too touchy-feely in the way it treats its main character, but the overall result seems solid. Starring Charlize Theron, Christina Ricci. First Look, $19.99, 9/1/2009.

14. The Peanut Butter Falcon [Blu-Ray] (2019)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: As an inspirational story, The Peanut Butter Falcon tends to hit the expected notes. At times its cast can give it charm, but it lacks much real narrative or character depth. Starring Shia LaBeouf, Dakota Johnson. Lionsgate, $24.99, 11/12/2019.

15. Black Sunday (1977)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: At its heart, Black Sunday features an intriguing plot, and given the state of world affairs, it should offer a chilling and exciting examination of its topic. Unfortunately, the movie presents a silly and disjointed affair that takes forever to progress and never becomes tense or compelling. Starring Robert Shaw. Paramount, $14.99, 10/14/2003.

16. The 'Burbs: Collector's Edition [Blu-Ray] (1992)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Despite the presence of Tom Hanks and other talents, The ‘Burbs lacks much to make it succeed. The movie progresses at a snail’s pace and never builds to anything enjoyable, as it remains a consistently dull, misguided stab at comedy/horror. Starring Tom Hanks, Carrie Fisher. Shout, $29.99, 3/20/2018.

17. The Fugitive: Season 1, Volume 2 (1963)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Since I enjoyed the first half of The Fugitive’s first season, I expected to like its conclusion just as well. And I think I did. If forced to pick, Volume One probably has a slight edge if just because it featured more of Lt. Gerard, but both halves of S1 offer lots of good material ... (T)he series remains worthwhile and earns my recommendation. Starri

19. Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte: Fox Studio Classics (1964)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I think Hush… Hush, Sweet Charlotte runs a little longer than it should, but it still manages to pack a reasonable punch. The combination of good performances and tight psychological thrills makes it a winner. Starring Bette Davis, Olivia de Havilland. Fox, $14.98, 8/5/2005.

20. Five Easy Pieces: America Lost and Found - The BBS Story (Criterion Collection) [Blu-Ray] (1970)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Five Easy Pieces shows a different side of Jack Nicholson than the one best known to fans. It delivers a good character examination that delivers an involving experience. The Blu-ray offers fairly solid picture quality, average audio, and a consistently informative set of supplements. Criterion creates a fine release for a memorable film. Starring Jack N
