271. Pinocchio: Platinum Edition (70th Anniversary) (1940)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Pinocchio stands as a terrific achievement in animation and a darned entertaining film as well. If it’s not the greatest animated film of all-time, it’s close. The DVD provides excellent picture quality, good audio, and a long roster of interesting supplements. Pinocchio receives fine treatment here, and this is a must-own DVD, one well worth “double-dip

272. Almost Famous [4K UHD] (2000)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Almost Famous became one of the sweetest and more ingratiating films of 2000, and it possesses a particular resonance for those of us with a heavy interest in rock music. What could have been little more than a coming of age story dressed up in classic rock clothes, Famous instead offered a light and lovely tale that earned honest emotion without any si

273. Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (Special Collector's Edition) (1991)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Arguably the best Star Trek flick, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country has lost a little luster over the last 12 or so years. Nonetheless, most of it works nicely, and it remains probably the most exciting and fun of the series’ movies. Starring William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy. Paramount, $19.99, 1/27/2004.

274. Man Of Steel [Blu-Ray 3D] (2013)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: When I saw A Good Day to Die Hard, I opined that it’d probably end up as my biggest cinematic disappointment of 2013. Perhaps I spoke too soon, as Man of Steel may earn that “honor”. Flawed in almost every possible way, the film craps all over the Superman legacy. Starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams. Warner, $24.98, 11/12/2013.

275. Superbad: Unrated Special Edition (2007)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: If you expect a deep, inspiring cinematic journey, don’t watch Superbad. If you want a crude but clever and often very funny romp, Superbad will be a fine choice ... Both an entertaining movie and a pretty good DVD, Superbad earns my recommendation. Starring Jonah Hill, Michael Cera. Sony, $34.95, 12/4/2007.

276. Charlie's Angels: Superbit Deluxe (2000)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I don’t think folks who own the original will want to replace it with this one, but first-time purchasers should grab the Superbit release.

277. Chicago: Razzle Dazzle Edition (2002)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Actually, I’m not even sure I’d recommend this 2-DVD release for those who don’t have the original. That’s simply because of cost. Right now the single-disc version retails for $20 while the “Razzle Dazzle Edition” lists for $30. I don’t think this set’s extras are worth the extra $10, at least not unless you’re a major fan of the film. If you love Chica

278. The Chronicles Of Riddick: Collector's Edition [4K UHD] (2004)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Many criticize big-budget blockbusters as all style, no substance, and that seems to be the case with The Chronicles of Riddick. The filmmakers executed a lavish and detailed sci-fi universe but didn’t bother to come up with an involving story or much dynamic action. Starring Vin Diesel, Judi Dench. Arrow, $49.95, 9/17/2024.

280. Titanic [4K UHD] (1997)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Moving, entertaining and often stunning, Titanic remains an exceptional film. Arguably one of the five most popular movies of all time, it holds up after more than a quarter of a century. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet. Paramount, $37.99, 12/5/2023.
