1. Don Jon [Blu-Ray] (2013)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While I can’t say Joseph Gordon Levitt’s directorial debut hits the ball out of the park, Don Jon provides a more than satisfactory film. It occasionally bogs down in its themes but it usually delivers a realistic and satisfying character piece. The Blu-ray offers good picture and audio along with a mix of useful featurettes. Color me impressed, and I lo

2. (500) Days Of Summer [Blu-Ray] (2009)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: I’m happy to see something that breaks with the romantic comedy norm, but (500) Days of Summer tries so hard to avoid conventions that it boxes itself in a corner. It creates its own tedious clichés in its self-conscious attempt to be Different and Quirky. The Blu-ray provides reasonably good picture and audio along with a nice collection of supplements.

3. Looper [Blu-Ray] (2012)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: While the film left me a bit cold when I first saw it, Looper holds up to additional viewings well. Indeed, more scrutiny allowed me to better appreciate its charms and see it as a rich, involving character western with sci-fi elements to give it some spice. The Blu-ray delivers excellent picture and audio along with a good roster of supplements. Looper

4. The Lookout (2007)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: The Lookout provides an unusually rich thriller. It only occasionally falters as it focuses on characters and succeeds most of the time. Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jeff Daniels. Miramax, $29.99, 8/14/2007.

5. 50/50 [Blu-Ray] (2011)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: With its combination of comedy and drama, 50/50 hits a good balance. It throws in enough humor to counteract the seriousness, and vice versa. Add a good cast and we get a likable, involving tale. The Blu-ray delivers decent to good picture and audio along with a reasonably interesting set of supplements. Chalk up 50/50 as an effective comedy/drama. Starr

6. Premium Rush [Blu-Ray] (2012)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: Despite a general lack of originality, I enjoyed my time with Premium Rush. A solid cast and some lively action sequences enliven a project enough to allow us to ignore most of its clichés and flaws. The Blu-ray delivers solid picture and audio but skimps on bonus materials. It’s too bad the disc lacks substantial supplements, but I still recommend it as

7. The Walk [Blu-Ray 3D] (2015)
"Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: To a certain degree, The Walk feels like 90 minutes of build-up. The movie comes together in its final act, but that first three-fourths can be tough sledding. To a certain degree, I

8. Hesher [Blu-Ray] (2010)
Reviewed by Colin Jacobson: A drama about grief that attempts to deliver something unusual, Hesher flops. It tends to seem aimless and doesn’t bother to explore its themes or characters well. The Blu-ray comes with pretty good picture and audio as well as a smattering of supplements. Hesher tries to add attitude to a sentimental genre but fails to do so in a compelling manner. Star
